Year For Priests

Pope Benedict XVI has announced the Year for Priests to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the death of the Curé of Ars, St. John Mary Vianney, the patron saint of priests. The year was inaugurated by the Holy Father on June 19,, the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the World Day of Prayer for the Sanctification of Priests. The Holy Father said that this special year is intended “to encourage priests in . . . striving for spiritual perfection on which, above all, the effectiveness of their ministry depends.”

For this reason it will be a year of prayer by priests, with priests and for priests; a year for the renewal of the spirituality of each priest. Pray daily for our priests and for more vocations to the priesthood.

Mass For the Sick

On the First Friday of the month, we have celebrate the 5:30 p.m. Mass for the sick of the parish. The priest reads the names of the sick out loud prior to the start of the Mass. On First Fridays a prayer card is available in the atrium and at the back of the church. Together we say this prayer during the liturgy. Please return this card when you leave the church.

Paint-A-Thon  Team

For the third year, parishioners from St. Michael’s will join with over 2,500 other volunteers to work on a home the weekend of August 1 & 2. This year we have been assigned a home in Marine on St Croix, 11 miles from St. Michael’s. The homeowner has had a very hard time recently. Her husband was sick for years, draining them financially, so there was no way for them to keep up on the repairs to their home and now repairs are needed to the siding and windows before painting takes place.
