Choirs
St. Michael's choirs perform under the direction of Jayne Windnagel, director of liturgy and music. Parishioners interested in participating in one of these groups are invited to e-mail Jayne at jwindnagel@costm.org to learn more.
Children's Choir
The Children’s Choir of the Church of St. Michael is under the patronage of the Holy Innocents (December 28) http://www.catholic-forum.com/saints/sainth04.htm Rehearsals take place on Wednesday afternoons during the school year from 4:00-5:00 p.m. The group sings at Sunday Mass once a month during the school year and also performs two additional programs per year. Past programs have included concerts, lecture concerts and plays. Special programs are undertaken with the intention of enriching our Catholic Culture. An annual choir camp (not mandatory) is also held in the month of June. Auditions are not required but an attendance commitment is. A membership fee is charged to cover operating expenses.
Music performed by the Children’s Choir includes a rich variation of Sacred from Gregorian Chant to newly composed music. In addition, the choir is especially devoted to works of spiritual and corporal works of mercy. http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/10198d.htm
Due to space restrictions the choir is limited to 50 members. To inquire about membership or to be put on a waiting list, please contact Director, Jayne Windnageljwindnagel@costm.orgThe Children's Choir sings at one Sunday Mass per month and performs at such special events as the Christmas concert, the Santa Lucia Procession and the May Crowning. Rehearsals are on Wednesdays at 3:45 p.m. Children ages 10-14 are welcome.
High School Choir
The High School Choir sings both contemporary and traditional sacred music in four-part harmony at the 9:15 a.m. Mass on Sundays. Rehearsals are on Tuesdays from 6:00-7:45 p.m.
Adult Choir
The Adult Choir sings a variety of musical styles in traditional four-part harmony, accompanied by the organ, and leads at the 11:00 a.m. Mass on Sundays. Rehearsals are on Wednesdays from 7:00-8:45 p.m.
