Pastoral Care
Through pastoral care, we answer God's call to serve all those in need with love and compassion. St. Michael's pastoral care programs are coordinated by Leann Kaufenberg, pastoral minister, and made possible by the dedication of many volunteers in our parish family. To learn more about pastoral outreach at the Church of St. Michael, please e-mail Leann at lkaufenberg@costm.org.
BeFrienders Trained volunteer ministers bring the caring presence of God and the community to the elderly, homebound and hospitalized by bringing Eucharist, leading the rosary, assisting with Mass at elder care facilities and simply befriending those in need.
Sacramental Minstry Clergy visit homebound parishioners on the first Friday of every month. St. Michael's clergy partner with other Christian clergy to offer non-denominational services on Sunday afternoons at local elder care facilities. Catholic clergy also offer Mass once a month at each facility.
Respect Life Committee Members coordinate the Spiritual Adoption of the Unborn to educate the parish about pro-life issues and encourage prayers for unborn children at risk of abortion.
Young at Heart Seniors from the parish community gather for prayer, social activities, retreats and educational programs.
Helping Hand Emergency Fund is an outreach program intended to provide assistance to our parishioners who are experiencing financial hardship. Special collections at the Masses on Thanksgiving, Ash Wednesday, and Holy Thursday provide money for this fund. The money can be used in the form of a grant or a loan. There is a cap to the amount of money an individual will receive. Each situation is considered based on the need. Requests for assistance may be used for rent or mortgage assistance, purchase of medications, payment toward outstanding bills such as electricity, phone etc. If you have a need you would like to discuss in confidence, please call Leann Kaufenberg, Pastoral Minister, at 651-379-1266.
St. Michael's Food Shelf Parish family donates food and money to serve families in need year round.
Hospitality Committee Members help connect the parish community through Registration Sundays, Donut Sundays, congratulatory cards to the newly baptized, annual parish picnic and occasional adult social activities such as caroling, potlucks or theater outings.
Community Outreach Board Located near the east entrance to the Social Hall, the Community Outreach Board connects parishioners who wish to volunteer their time or resources to fellow parishioners in need. Postings are divided into four areas: requests for assistance, freebies, employment needed and employment opportunities.
